Meine Lieben,

mein Kurztrip nach Sao Paulo (Hinflug – Arbeiten – kurz in die Mall – Rückflug) sowie die daraufolgende Grippe haben mich zwar ein wenig ausgeknockt aber auch zu neuen Näh-Abenteuern inspiriert (die Reise, nicht die Grippe).

my very short business trip to Sao Paulo (total rush – just in-work-mall-out) and a following pretty bad flu hit me off my feet for a while but also inspired me so much (the trip, not the flu).

 

Der dresscode in Brasilien ist ja doch ein wenig anders als der unsrige! Grundsätzlich ist alles gefühlte 2 Nummern kleiner – eng ist die Devise und vor allem sehr, sehr sexy. Und zwar nicht nur auf der Party abends sondern auch auch auf der Messe und im Büro tagsüber. Mitunter konnte ich gar nicht anders als um mich starren – so viele schöne Menschen…

The Brasilian dress code is a tiny bit different than the German one since everything obviously needs to be 2 sizes smaller and tight (and I mean tight-tight you know) and of course hot  – like hot hot. And this surprisingly applies to daywear on an exhibition, too. I just couldn’t resist – I just had to stare at all these beauties cause they were all just so beautiful  – and hot.

Und ich muss sagen, es war wunderbar! Egal wie alt und ob dick oder dünn – alle tragen die heißesten Klamotten und die meisten davon mit einer bewundernswerten Anmut und Grazie. Und ein bisschen was davon könnten wir und hier davon abgucken, finde ich! Außerdem hatten dort alle, wirklich alle Schlaghosen an! Und zwar so richtige! Überraschung: ich liebe natürlich auch Schlaghosen und musste mir dann auch tatsächlich 2 davon kaufen.

And I have to admit: I just loved it! Women of all age and size would wear those hot shebangs with so much grace and attitude! Something we could learn from a bit here…and the best thing of all was that they all wore flares! Like really flares! That was definitely a trend I had to follow and bought 2 of those.

Die Welle der Begeisterung hat mich dann auch gleich an Ostersonntag zu meiner Nähmaschine geführt und ich musste einfach den Schnitt von Cynthia Rowley nähen, der hier schon seit Ewigkeiten liegt. Und jetzt frage ich mich, warum ich das nicht schon viel eher gemacht habe, denn der Schnitt sitzt perfekt und kommt nahezu ohne Änderungen aus. Und das ist wirklich die absolute Ausnahme, denn Hosen sind in Puncto Passform ja noch eigenwilliger als Kleider. Normalerweise sind da immer Anpassungen nötig – hier habe ich nur die Schrittlinie des hinteren Hosenteils gekürzt – und das war’s!

Fortunately I had this Cynthia Rowley pattern and some black Ponte in my stash and so my trip to flare-country could continue. I bought this pattern I think 2 years ago and it never made it to my cutting table up until now  – what a waste of time! Now I know it’s a staple and already made one more. And the best thing: I just shortened the crotch 1cm and that was it – no alterations needed!
